Dr. Ian Yamane grew up in a small community in San Diego County. At home, his mother battled illness for over 20 years. He witnessed a high spirited woman who was held back by a sick body and was relegated to her bed. She had no vitality and was always sick. He watched his father pick up the slack in the household to care for his sick wife while working full time and raising a family. It was painful for Dr. Yamane to experience his parents return each time from a doctor's visit as he had high hopes that the large bag of pills would somehow cure her. At times there were some glimpses of hope that she was cured, yet gradually over time she would end up right back in bed. Unfortunately, after visiting with many of the top healthcare specialists she passed away at a premature age. From that moment on, Dr. Yamane had a burning desire to start his journey in finding a way to help people with chronic and difficult to treat conditions. His desire for all families to enjoy optimal health drives his research and development of patient care so that no individual within families will have to suffer the same life-long debilitating heath that held back his family from the joy they could have had.Read More

Every day I get to come to work knowing we are making a difference! I love functional medicine and all that is stands for. Healing people at a cellular level and helping the body heal itself is amazing. I have seen our Valhalla Team help 100s of patients over the years. We have a Team that truly does care about patients and wants to help them be their best self!
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, kids, mom, friends and dogs. I also have 2 grandchildren that I adore and love to spend time with! I love golfing! Being out on the golf course is so relaxing, even when I am playing bad!
I was born in Indiana, land of race cars and corn. I grew up from a young age with gut issues that made it a struggle to function. After years of struggling I took control of my own health. This transformation led me to want to help others with health as well. I studied nutrition and marketing at Ball State University. Health as my motive, I have worked with diabetic camps, weight loss programs, and studied abroad throughout Asia. If you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. You can't put a limit on anything. The more you dream, the farther you get.
My name is Farrah and I grew up in a small town in northern California. I spent most of my childhood and teenage years struggling with chronic illness. It took years of trial-and-error learning about integrative and functional medicine before I was able to make lasting healthy lifestyle changes to fully heal myself. I achieved optimal health and vitality through learning how to cook and eat whole foods (without unrecognizable added ingredients), and exercising appropriately for my unique body type.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of California, Davis, and earned my Master of Science in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut.Read More
I started becoming intrigued with functional medicine after my sister was diagnosed with brain cancer. I saw what prescription medication did to her and how it affected her children, her husband and the rest of our family. We all started slowly changing our lifestyle. We’ve seen improvement and it’s the best feeling in the world.
My husband, children and I recently moved to Las Vegas from Hawaii. Going to the beach used to be something we did almost every weekend. Now that we don’t have the beach, we find ourselves at the parks a lot. I enjoy spending time, outdoors, with my family.
"Without experimentation, a willingness to ask questions and try new things, we shall surely become static, repetitive, and moribund." - Anthony Bourdain
This quote really hits home for me, to get out of our comfort zone, think of new ideas and live to do what we love while trying different things. Working at Valhalla has opened my eyes and has given me a new view on how to be healthy. It’s not a new diet fad and a magical pill to lose weight in 7 days. It’s a lifestyle change for your mind and body, that includes functional medicine that is based on what You (your body) needs. I’ve seen wonderful things happen that puts a smile on my face when seeing the improvement in peoples lives over time, especially when Valhalla was the last resort because modern and prescription medicine was not working. Valhalla in Viking lore is a place of honor, glory, and happiness with a new beginning to fight again another day. I find that fascinating that it’s true Valhalla Wellness Center is based off of this fairy tale and it’s amazing to see a great difference in people’s lives. Functional medicine has truly changed my life for the better and I could not be happier to learn and be educated from my colleagues. If you could not tell from the little history lesson thrown in there I love watching history documentaries, hiking and walking on the weekends (especially in Oregon), and cooking, I love food! Anthony Bourdain was especially an important impact on my life, he lived life to the fullest and never forget how big the world is while realizing that there is a lot more out there to explore.
"Perhaps wisdom, at least for me, means realizing how small I am, and unwise, and how far I have yet to go." - Anthony Bourdain
