Injectable Nutrients

Valhalla Wellness

Most of us are not getting the nutrients we need through diet alone. In fact, a 2011 study revealed that 90% of Americans are undernourished, lacking in key nutrients like calcium, fiber, potassium, zinc, iron, vitamin D, and vitamin B-12.

Many of us take oral vitamin supplements to close that nutrient gap and make us feel better. Yet, those daily vitamins often fail to help our body reach optimal health and nutrition. And that’s why many people turn to injectable nutrients, also known as vitamin injections.

Vitamin Injections vs. Oral Supplementation

When you pop a vitamin pill in the morning, those nutrients enter the body through the digestive system. Your digestive system can become too saturated, limiting the amount of nutrients your body can actually absorb.

What your body can’t absorb is then excreted through urine or stool. This means there is no guarantee that your body is receiving enough nutrients through oral supplementation. Think about vitamin C, a common supplement. When we take too much vitamin C orally, the body reacts with loose stool and diarrhea.

A healthy, safe alternative to your daily over-the-counter vitamin is injectable nutrients, or vitamin injections. With injectable nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and other micronutrients are injected directly into the body. This can be done either intramuscularly (IM) or intravenously (IV). Injectables are more effective than oral supplementation because:

  • Oral supplementation is limited in both dosage and absorbability. Injectables allow us to administer higher dosages and achieve higher blood concentrations than oral supplementation alone.
  • Injectables bypass the digestive system, unlike oral supplements. This means they are immediately available for the body’s cells.
  • The digestive tract’s ability to absorb supplements is greatly influenced by chronic disease, inflammation, and dietary choices. By bypassing the digestive tract altogether, we can more accurately supplement the body’s nutrient needs without fear of excretion.

How Are Injectable Nutrients Administered?

Intramuscular (IM) Injections

IM injections are administered into the muscle belly. Common sites include the gluteus (buttocks) and deltoid (shoulder) muscles. This is a virtually pain-free injection, with most patients noticing little to no discomfort. As the needle enters the skin, however, there may be a small “pinch” sensation. Vitamin B-12 shots and B-complex shots are common IM injections.

Intravenous (IV) Pushes

Every patient is unique, so how often vitamin injections are needed depends on how your body responds to them. The effects of one IV push may last several weeks for one person, or several months for another. In some cases, your body may require weekly injections as it begins the healing process, but over time and as health returns, the effects will last longer and longer. Our doctors can recommend a protocol based on your current health condition and adjust it accordingly over time as symptoms improve. For a consultation with one of our doctors, call us today.

You will experience little to no side effects from injectable nutrient treatment. On rare occasions, some patients have experienced allergic reactions. However, this is usually a reaction to preservatives or specific nutrients that they are allergic to. For your protection, we recommend all patients alert our doctors to any known allergies, including those which require an EpiPen.

Choose Vitamin Shots for Immediate Benefits

Injectable nutrients are an ideal supplement solution for virtually anyone, from those in relatively good health to those suffering from a chronic disease. They are popular among celebrities like Madonna, Rihanna, Rita Ora, and Simon Cowell for their host of health benefits:

  • The body needs energy to function, and nutrients are essential for the body’s cells to provide it with that energy. Patients who receive injectables often experience better energy levels and reduced levels of fatigue.
  • While the duration of the common cold varies depending on different factors, the average duration is only about a week. If you are struggling to fight off a cold for longer than a week, it may indicate that your body is undernourished. Injectables enhance the body’s immune function and ability to fight off infections.
  • Undernourished bodies often feel sluggish and may struggle to handle day-to-day events. If a patient is consistently feeling stressed, injectables can help them adapt better to stressors in their environment.

Vitamin Shots Provided at Valhalla

IM Methylcobalamin (B-12)

Vitamin B-12 is a water-soluble vitamin produced by microbes in the soil and intestinal tracts of animals. It can be found naturally in:

  • Animal products such as meats, eggs, and dairy
  • Fortified foods, like breads
  • Organic, grass-fed meats
  • Organic soil

Vitamin B-12 deficiency is believed to be one of the most common nutrient deficiencies in the world, affecting 39% of the U.S. population alone. Antacids, the use of antibiotics, and vegan and vegetarian diets are all contributors of this widespread deficiency. Patients with this deficiency may experience fatigue, weakness, poor moods, and low concentration. Vitamin B-12 injections are beneficial for every cell of the body and the function of nerves, the brain, and red blood cells.

IM B-Complex

Patients experiencing B-complex deficiency may have difficulty thinking, memory loss or anemia. IM B-Complex is a combination of the following ingredients:

  • B1-Thiamine for energy production and the creation of new cells
  • B2-Riboflavin is an antioxidant that fights free radicals and contributes to the production of new red blood cells.
  • B3-Niacinamide for energy production and regulation of the nervous and digestive systems.
  • B5-Dexpanthenol for fatty acid synthesis, energy, and hemoglobin production.
  • B6-Pyridoxine is essential for the function of many different enzymes in the body, hormone function, and blood vessel wall integrity.

IV Push Myers Cocktail

The Myers Cocktail is a combination of B vitamins, vitamin C, Calcium, and Magnesium. It is typically used to treat and reduce the symptoms of the following conditions:

  • Acute asthma
  • Cardiovascular Disease
  • Depression
  • Fatigue
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Inflammation
  • Migraine
  • Seasonal Allergies
  • Upper respiratory infection

IV Push Glutathione

Glutathione is a tripeptide made of cysteine, glycine, and glutamic acid. This antioxidant can be found in every cell of the body. It is vital for the mitochondria and energy of the body’s cells and neutralizes free radicals. It is also important for detoxification, helping the body recycle vitamins C and E. It has been shown to be effective in treatment of the following conditions:

  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Chronic otitis media (middle ear infection)
  • Fatigue
  • Parkinson’s emphysema

Lipotropic Injections

These injections are intramuscular only. They target fatty deposits and increase metabolism of fat in the body. They also promote the export of fat from the liver. Combined with a healthy diet and exercise, they can stimulate fat removal and increase energy levels.

This lipotropic injection includes several important nutrients including:

  • Methionine: an essential amino acid that can't be made by the body. It breaks down fat and helps lower cholesterol levels while increasing liver metabolism.
  • Inositol: A B-vitamin that transports fat through the body and is important for cell membranes.
  • Choline: This is an essential nutrient needed for liver function. It's not an "official" B-vitamin, but it's similar. It transports nutrients through the body and helps prevent fat accumulation in the liver.
  • B12: This boosts energy and metabolic rate AND enhances mood.
