Whole Body Vibration

Valhalla Wellness

The 10 Minute Treatment with Big Results

At Valhalla Wellness and Medical Centers, we are happy to provide our patients with a variety of treatments to improve health and wellness in Las Vegas and the surrounding areas. Whole Body Vibration (WBV) is a quick treatment that has many benefits, including accelerated weight loss and cellulite reduction.

What is Whole Body Vibration?

WBV is a method of vibrating the entire body to stimulate involuntary muscle reactions. Muscles contract and relax automatically at the same rate that the body is vibrating, which stimulates the cardiovascular, lymphatic, and nervous systems simultaneously.

The vibrations increase the forces on your body, so your body has to work a little harder just to stand; this improves muscle tone all over the body and can even help to improve balance.

WBV is a low-impact treatment that can be used by people of all fitness and skill levels across a wide age range. This method has seen positive results in studies done to determine its effects on weight loss. Recent research has been promising.

Who Developed Whole Body Vibration?

The Russian space program began putting WBV into practice in the 1960s. Bone and muscle loss accelerates in space due to the lack of gravity. Astronauts used WBV before, during, and after their trips to simulate gravity and keep their bones and muscles strong.

WBV was then integrated into athletic training, specifically the Russian Olympic teams. It is often considered part of the reason Russian athletes dominated the 1980 Olympic medal count.

What Are the Benefits of Whole Body Vibration?

To learn more about the specific benefits of WBV, please watch the video below featuring our own Dr. Ian Yamane.

Some of the benefits include:

  • Accelerated weight loss
  • Reduced cellulite
  • Reduced of varicose veins
  • Increased energy
  • Enhanced lymph drainage and detoxification
  • Improved wellness
  • Amplified aerobic and strength training
  • Reduced pain
  • Increased bone mass and density

Who Benefits from Whole Body Vibration?

Anyone who is looking to achieve any of the benefits of WBV is an excellent candidate for the treatment. There is evidence that WBV can be particularly beneficial to certain groups.

Obese people who are unable to perform more intense exercises can benefit from WBV, both for its benefits and as a way to transition to another kind of exercise.

Older adults who have physical limitations and are struggling to find a way to stay active can get many benefits from WBV. It gives them a way to stay active and can help them get strong enough to add other exercises to their routine. Because WBV can improve balance, it can reduce the risk of falls in the elderly as well.

Vibration exercise is also used by athletes and those who already have an established exercise routine to isolate muscles groups and enhance an already effective workout.

Because of the potential for increased bone density, older women at risk for osteoporosis can also see a lot of benefits.

WBV is not recommended for women who are pregnant, people who have implanted devices like a pacemaker or nerve stimulator, or anyone with a history of seizures, blood clots, or tumors.
